a survival guide to ... adulthood!
introducing a practical companion to the debt heads podcast
Happy Tax Day! 🫠
When people hear that we’re making a podcast about debt, we often hear: Wow, really? — I need to get out of debt!
And we think: So do WE!
Debt Heads is a podcast about why we and so many other people are in debt; it digs deep into how our economy defines our behaviors, and limits our imagination; and we really hope that it makes the people who are struggling feel seen, and empowered.
But it’s not exactly a guide to getting out of it.
And while we hope this project inspires all of us to band together and build a better future, we know that in the meantime — we still gotta pay our rent, we still gotta eat, and we still gotta survive adulthood.
So, we’re excited to launch the first video series on our new Patreon channel — The Survival Guide to Adulthood, a subscriber-only companion to Debt Heads that asks experts the questions we want answers to, like …
How to pay off debt! How to make a budget! How to read a healthcare bill! Basically, how to survive in late-stage capitalism while maintaining hope for a better future.
Here’s a sneak peek of the series:
For our first episode, we started with a casual chat about the “creator economy,” and we were lucky enough to ask Claire Parker and Ashley Hamilton, co-hosts of Celebrity Memoir Book Club, how they have succeeded financing their artistic dreams by working hard and and having fun.
As a gift to our paid subcribers here on Substack, we’ll be sending this episode in a separate email, but going forward Substack will be our newsletter, and Patreon will be our video platform.
For everybody else … you can become a subscriber on Patreon to see all Debt Heads BONUS content like Survival Guide to Adulthood and more random video and audio treats. You’ll be helping as we try to help you! Mutual aid, baby!
xoxo
