Here in New York City, public school starts tomorrow. Since one of us is a former New York City public school kid, we’re adopting its schedule to launch a new semester and share some exciting updates with you!
We have decided that it’s time for us to go back to school. Kind of. After a year of researching financial topics and the economy for our podcast, Debt Heads, we realized there’s so much we don’t know anything about.
That led us to think — are we dumb?
Which led us to realize — no! Financial matters are overcomplicated by design. They’re also a goddamn snooze-fest.
Take the credit card agreement, which apparently is written at a reading level that’s higher than … uh … the bible. Have you heard of it?
So, for the next few months, we’re going back to basics. We'll be taking notes on issues that are important to all of us but are widely misunderstood by the average person, AKA, us.
Then, we’ll be translating them, and making them digestible and hopefully funny, for you. We’ll release our findings as mini episodes here, as well as on Spotify & Apple.
Going heads down in our notebooks to bring you this hot content means that Spend Recaps & Friday Night Likes are going from weekly to monthly.
There will be a video budget recap vlog on the second Monday of each month, and a big roundup of everything we liked on the last Friday of each month. MARK YOUR SYLLABI!
We’ll also be upping the number of personal essays coming to your mailbox. I’m not going to say weekly because I don’t want the principal to come after me and give me detention for lying, but more than just sporadically. A word I DID NOT LEARN FROM THE MOVIE CLUELESS. Promise.
Make sure you’re signed up for the newsletter so you don’t miss our first 101 course — WTF is inflation’s actual deal? — coming Friday.
OK, love you, bye!
J&R, the Debt Heads
