Debt Heads Minis: ‘Are you calling me thin?’

A self-esteem soliloquy

Debt Heads Minis is a collection of work-in-progress vignettes on the topic of debt (duh) that we’ll be sharing here while we work on our official series, and more crucially, while we work to secure funding to sustain the full-time production of that series.

Thanks to a grant we won last year, we have successfully completed a full pilot episode (!) and are currently at work on episodes two, three, four … (!!)

If you like what you’ve seen and heard so far, it’s never been a better time to join our community and support this work by becoming a paid subscriber!

When it comes to debt and spending, personal finance expert and personality Suze Orman put it in the most straightforward terms“We spend more than when we feel less than.”

There are myriad reasons people get into debt, and even for each person, there is never one specific reason. Low wages, codependent tendencies, an unstable job market – they all seem to work together, and in overtime, to put someone, and keep someone, in debt.

Over the next four weeks, Debt Heads co-host Jamie Feldman will share some of her own debt “whys,” starting with a big one: mental health and low self-esteem.

Listen to hear just how closely money health is related to mental health, how her priorities have shifted over the years and how a TikTok changed the way she started talking to, and thinking about herself forever.

As always, stay tuned for more updates, and if you like this content, feel free to go ahead and boost our self-esteem by becoming a monthly paid subscriber.

Love,

Jamie & Rachel, aka the Debt Heads
