Two episodes in one week, what is this, a podcast studio with more than two people on staff?
Nope, it’s still just us two, but today, we’re excited to announce that we are going to start publishing a weekly series: The Way We Get By.
This companion series to the Debt Heads podcast is going to be fast and loose, snack-sized dispatches from our friends and listeners as they share unfiltered meditations, fears, hopes, rants, and desperate screams echoing into the void on how they are surviving the economy TODAY.
Basically, Debt Heads episodes take us a little longer than a week to create, but everyone says you have to build an audience with weekly content, so we’re doing that! We are proudly presenting slightly polished voice memos, complete with all the real stuff (dogs barking, horns honking, babies crying) that happens in REAL LIFE.
While the series is new, our first guest is familiar. Emily Meade is a brilliant actor (and friend!) who has done what very few others have been able to do — sustain a career as an actor for the better part of two decades.
The Way We Get By was actually inspired by a voice memo we asked Emily to send us for a different episode. We were equal parts excited / enraged / infuriated by Emily’s perspective on the state of her industry and felt strongly about sharing her story. We wanted to offer people a peek behind the curtain (hehe) at an industry that is far less glamorous than it appears on the stage and screen.
We hope you enjoy it!
And! We want to hear from you! If you are interested in sharing a bit about how you are (or are not) getting by in this made up thing we call the economy, shoot us an email at debtheadspodcast@gmail.com.
Love,
J+R (+E!)
