It’s not everyday that we hear from Debt Heads listeners.
In fact, outside of an Apple or Spotify review, it has been pretty much noneday.
That is, until a few weeks ago, when we realized that actual teachers (who went to school for longer than we did) are not just listening to US but apparently learning from us too!
As soon as we read the opening line of her email — “writing to you from my summer job, pulling weeds in a Denver suburb in the heat” — we knew we had to ask middle school science teacher, Hannah Wright, if she’d be interested in sending us a live dispatch from this summer job for an episode of The Way We Get By.
We are so grateful to Hannah, not only because teachers (especially those of the middle school persuasion) are doing the lord’s work, but also because this podcast is all about connecting with each other, and sharing real thoughts, feelings, and knowledge. So, thank you Hannah!
In addition to hearing what it’s really like to be a committed teacher in today’s economy, this mini episode features a story about how embarrassingly intimate Jamie got with her high school teachers, as well as the ambient differences between the Denver suburbs and downtown Brooklyn.
While you’re on our feed, might you consider dropping us a rating (five stars works for us if it works for you) and perhaps even a review? It will help us in the literal sense but also, more crucially, in the spiritual one.
REMINDER! We’re teaming up with Melanie Ehrenkranz who writes the brilliant Laid Off newsletter on a survey all about debt and layoffs. You can take it here!
And — in case it’s not abundantly clear by this piece of fan mail, we want to hear from you! Get in touch with us at debtheadspodcast@gmail.com to share your own dispatch from the Debt Heads universe, and stay tuned to hear our next full episode, coming soon.
Love,
J+R (+H!)
