Hi! How are you getting by?!
Some good news: we finally have a release date to share with you for the next episode of Debt Heads! Some bad news: it’s not today.
Some more good news: we’re sharing the date on this week’s The Way We Get By, along with another really interesting, informative and entertaining dispatch from the Debt Heads universe.
This episode is all about unions. What are they? How are they formed? Can Jamie be trusted not to spill the beans about a union at her workplace while it’s being formed? We get into it all with our friend Alex Kaufman, a senior editor who helped form HuffPost’s union back in 2015.
Alex was kind enough to chat with us just days after being laid off from the position he held at HuffPost for 11 years, and right before the birth of his daughter. Alex’s insights about the digital media, the state of journalism, and worker protections more broadly, are both stressful and hopeful.
Also! As we mentioned, we’re teaming up with Melanie Ehrenkranz who writes the brilliant Laid Off newsletter on a survey all about debt and layoffs. You can take it here!
Finally — we want to hear from you! If you are interested in sharing a bit about how you are (or are not) getting by in this made up thing we call the economy, shoot us an email at debtheadspodcast@gmail.com.
Love,
J+R (+A!)
