Time is money. It’s valuable. I can’t calculate it in my Tiller budget, but I can calculate it in the budget of my mind’s eye. And this week, I spent too much of my precious, valuable time, on Saltburn.
Apologies in advance to people who loved this movie and acknowledgment that there were some fun and interesting things about it (namely Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan, Rosamund Pike and that Murder on the Dance Floor scene ), however, next time I want to stare at these beautiful people for two hours and seven minutes while listening to a dance bop I’ll just pull up a Google search and play the song on Spotify, not sit through what I found to be a shell of a commentary dressed up in fancy clothing.
Or, as Wesley Morris more eloquently put it in his NYT review, of Director Emerald Fennell: “Fennell is more drawn to — or maybe just better at — styling and stunts than she is the tougher work of emotional trenchancy.”
But alas, this is not a movie review newsletter! It’s a spend recap newsletter! And there were many other things I spent my time and money on that are likely way less polarizing than this. Like taco salads! And long-awaited library books!
