Every Friday, I think of this scene from Elf:
And we did do it! Friday again! And that means it’s time for another installment of Friday Night Likes. This Friday feels extra special because I started a new gig this week, which means I’m back to working for the weekend!!!!!!
Here are a few things I liked this week. I hope you like them, too!
Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain
I listened to the Please Don’t Destroy boys on Mike Birbiglia’s podcast this week and remembered I’d been meaning to watch their movie on Peacock. I knew it was going to be wacky but I am not ashamed to admit I started laughing to myself during the opening roller skating scene and kept laughing to myself basically the whole way through. At 1:30 it falls into the short ass movie category that I love and I think it’s worth watching for the fun cameos alone.
Ayo Edeberi’s SAGs Interview
In this day and age, red carpet interviews are notoriously awkward, disjointed and missing something,* but at least this year we’re getting a taste of what the red carpet could be, thanks merely to Ayo Edeberi’s presence.
If you haven’t already seen her now widely meme-d response to the question “what would you say to your younger self?” that touches on the “rules of time travel” I highly recommend you do so right now.

My Wu’s Wonton King Hat
Great news! I started a new gig!
Which means that while I am still running low on funds, I am not running nearly as low on funds as I was just a few weeks ago. To commemorate the occasion I purchased this $15 hat from one of my favorite restaurants.
A few weeks ago my friends accused me of “loving New York a lot,” which, I guess if you look at my wardrobe (Zabar’s hat, Mcnally Jackson tote, Strand sweatshirt), is, in fact, true. Welcome to the fam, Wu’s hat!
Amy Jo Jackson’s show at Joe’s Pub
Wow, just wow.
Amy Jo Jackson is an actor and powerhouse cabaret singer who had her solo debut at Joe’s Pub this week. She and her band performed an entire setlist of Annie Lennox songs including all the ones you know, a few of the ones you don’t (or I didn’t), a gorgeous, haunting rendition of Walking on Broken Glass and an excellent Eurythmics medley with a hilarious accompanying slide show that you have to see to fully appreciate.
She is a true joy to watch and her musical arrangements (shout out to Brian J Nash!) just floored us. We keep finding ourselves wanting to hear their versions of the music over and over again.
OK, happy weekend! Love you!
