We did it, another Friday. Welcome to the second installment of Friday Night Likes, a round up of five good things that happened this week.
First and foremost, I want to extend a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has become a paid subscriber since I started begging people to become paid subscribers.
Thanks to all of you we’re now just SEVEN PAID SUBSCRIBERS AWAY FROM 100!
Subscriptions are still 30% off, which shakes out to just $3.50 / month & we’re still promising to dance for 100 celebratory seconds as soon as we hit the goal.
Again, thank you.
With that, please enjoy five good things that I saw, ate, experienced, etc. this week. I hope you have restful, peaceful weekends and for those celebrating, happy Hannukah.
This TikTok about NYC diner requirements
Every so often a video on the internet makes you feel seen in a way that makes the internet seem worth being on. This list of NYC diner requirements, which demands at least 18 pages of menu items and a health section made up entirely of things paired with cottage cheese, is one of those things.

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Stars
If you read Monday’s spend recap you know that I made the grave mistake of visiting a Trader Joe’s whilst in the throes of a hangover. As a result, I left with.. mostly snacks. Most notably, the dark chocolate star cookies. Apparently, the peppermint version is just as good. I’ve been looking for a perfect sweet treat to eat for dessert and these are it. Not too sweet, perfectly buttery, sprinkled with crunchy non-pareils, and fun.
American Symphony
If you need a very solid cry / something to restore your faith in love / humanity / art, watch this beautiful new documentary on Netflix It follows Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad during the year he simultaneously was nominated for 11 Grammys (including Album of the Year, which he won) and she found out her leukemia, which had been in remission for a decade, had returned. It’s beautiful, heart-breaking and life-affirming.
Mariska Hargitay getting a cat and naming it Karma
I actually initially did not like this, because I thought of this idea a long time ago — but am not getting a cat until I get out of debt. So Mariska Hargitay beat me to the punch. However I cannot deny that Hargitay naming her cat after a Taylor Swift song while one of Taylor Swift’s cats is named Olivia Benson is FINE, OK, VERY CUTE.
Lily Gladstone Marni & and Greta Lee’s Loewe gowns at the Academy Gala
I gasped when I saw Lily Gladstone’s gown, not because I think it’s the most incredible gown on earth but because I’m just thrilled to see her , and so much beautiful, happy, bright COLOR on a carpet.
Also, I love love both of their makeup. And both of their movies. Because I no longer work for people with Getty subscriptions, I am including the photos in here for your viewing pleasure with the watermark so I don’t get sued.
BONUS: Mallory Lewis & Lambchop’s Hannukah blessing
This just really got me. Live, laugh, love, latkes, lambchop.
OK, love you. Bye!
