I have so much shame around my $23k accumulated over the course of the pandemic and two job losses. Seeing your blog and watching your Tik Toks is incredibly helpful to me as I try to eliminate my debt as well. Thankful for your transparency. I’ve begun to feel more comfortable saying “no”

Or asking to adjust plans based off of saving money but there’s still a fair bit of fomo. Thanks for helping to normalize this! Also oh god…but dating!! it’s so hard to be on a budget and want to appear ~fun~ and up for anything without unloading the fact that you’re drowning in debt.

You’re clearly on the right path to a sweeter, more fulfilling, healthier relationship with everything but … more importantly … with yourself! Because in the immortal words of RuPaul, ‘if you don’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love anyone else?’

Love you and —-

Once again,

This is a great topic, thanks for sharing. I can relate as last year I decided to quit a rewarding job to focus on my health. My spending habits had to change significantly but I know I made the right decision. I gained back my health. Saying No sometimes is hard but it’s easier than to worried about how to pay the credit card.

Here's a q!

I struggle with saying no to connect (travel) with friends who are out of town. It feels so BIG to say no because in theory you're often saying no to something that's far away. NO I won't see you in 10 months. When that would mean putting down X $ now/soon. What about these situations where you can't really go for a walk, etc. have another (GD) zoom happy hour?

That's really tough! I think if these are friends who are a priority in your life, talk to them about what is realistic for you to do. Can you start saving for a trip down the line? Can they come see you? Can you meet somewhere in the middle and be super clear on what you can and cannot do beforehand?
